Former USC commitment DE Lorenzo Mauldin of Atlanta has signed a letter of intent with Louisville. Mauldin confirmed the signing Thursday night. Mauldin said he still has to get a qualifying test score. He said if he fails to qualify he will attend North Carolina Technical Prep School in Charlotte. Mauldin said if he has to go to prep school he will do so as a Louisville commitment but will also open things back up to other schools. Mauldin was one of two commitments to USC who were told a couple of days before signing day they would not be signed. USC was willing to sign Mauldin later for this year’s class if he qualified and if a spot opened for him. USC took Mauldin’s commitment knowing he would be close on qualifying.
PG Chris Colvin (6-3) of Palm Beach junior college in Florida has made a decision on three of his official visits, according to coach Butch Estes. He will visit Arizona State on April 9th and has plans to visit West Virginia and Miami. Colvin has not set dates for WVU or Miami but will save the last visit for the Hurricanes. According to Estes, Colvin has interest in Arizona State because a former Palm Beach JC player is now an assistant there. He likes Miami and the surrounding area and likes the Mountaineers because of their success. Clemson is involved with Colvin but his coach says they are unsure about the Tigers. Tennessee is a possibility for a visit as well but their coaching situation has him concerned. Colvin has eliminated Iowa and California from his list.
