Efforts by USC to hire Rich Bisaccia away from the San Diego Chargers have ended without success sources said over the weekend. The two sides could not get together on a financial package which would have brought Bisaccia back to USC where he once coached under Sparky Woods. Bisaccia, who owns prosperty in Richland County, had expressed an interest in returning. He spent nine seasons as an assistant at Tampa Bay before joining the San Diego staff after last season.
There is a large group of prospects now being evaluated by Steve Spurrier. One potential candidate Spurrier may consider is SC State assistant coach Danny Lewis. Lewis is a former graduate assistant at USC and has coached running backs and overseen special teams and recruiting for Buddy Pough the past two seasons.
Sources said over the weekend it appears Steve Spurrier Jr. will take over the recruiting coordinator’s job and Spurrier is considering giving quarterbacks coach GA Mangus the official title of offensive coordinator.
