USC commitments LB Jordan Montgomery and DE Lorenzo Mauldin will not be part of USC’s signing class tomorrow. As of Tuesday afternoon, both players plan to remain committed to the Gamecocks and hope to be able to enroll this summer or in August if they are academically qualified and room in the class opens up. Otherwise, they likely will attend prep school in the fall and resign with the Gamecocks for the 2012 class.

A report purported to be on ESPN Radio Monday night stated South Pointe DE Jadeveon Clowney plans to make an official visit to LSU this weekend. According to a source Monday night, Clowney would have a difficult time working in an official visit anywhere this weekend. First, Clowney has a basketball game Friday night. Second, he has his football banquet at the school Saturday afternoon, and the source said Clowney is not likely to miss that. And third, he has another basketball game Saturday night. The source said he was not aware of any plans for Clowney to make a visit this weekend. He could not say it wasn’t happening, but he did point out that Clowney’s schedule is pretty full for the first half of the weekend. Clowney did practice basketball Monday night and he and his teammates will play Tuesday night at Nation Ford.
Junior DL Earl Moore (6-2 280) of Tampa has offers from USC, Florida State, Georgia, South Florida, Southern Cal, and Texas Tech. He is hearing from Florida, Auburn, and Tennessee. The junior defensive lineman has USC, FSU, and Georgia has his top three in no order and says he likes what he sees out of the Gamecocks. “Every time I watch them, they always have good defensive linemen,” said Moore. “That tells me they have good coaches that develop players.” Moore has no plans to attend any junior days this semester. “I was going to Florida’s junior day but I have to take the ACT that day so I can’t go.” he said. “I don’t think I’m going to any.” As a junior, Moore totaled 68 tackles and six sacks.
