Former Clemson wide receiver Ricky Bustle has informed some members of the Clemson staff of his interest in the Tigers’ offensive coordinator job according to a source. The source said Bustle has not received any contact from Dabo Swinney about the position.
Bustle stepped down as head coach at Louisiana Lafayette after this past season, his 9th at the school. Bustle was a four year letterman as a wide receiver at Clemson graduating in 1975. He spent a year at USC as offensive coordinator and helped the Gamecocks to their first bowl win in 1996. But his greatest acclaim came during his seven year tenure as offensive coordinator at Virginia Tech where he tutored, among others, Michael Vick.
Bustle is from Summerville where he played his high school football for John McKissick.
Swinney has already interviewed Tulsa offensive coordinator Chad Morris about the offensive coordinator post. TCU coordinator Justin Fuente is also believed to be a person of interest for the post.
