The big news came at the start of the quarter when it was announced Clemson quarterback Kyle Parker would miss the rest of the game with broken ribs. Parker was injured on trying to score on a play late in the first half.
South Florida took the kickoff to open the third quarter. The Bulls converted a couple of third and longs and moved the ball right down the field and into the end zone. The drive was capped by a two yard touchdown run by Mo Plancher.

The Tajh Boyd era officially began when Boyd rolled out with the offense for its first drive of the quarter. The Tigers picked up a first down, but were forced to punt on the next series.
After a 36 yard punt return the Bulls took over at the Clemson 43. The Bulls moved the ball 23 yard line but missed a 40 yard field goal to end the drive.
