USC quarterback Stephen Garcia was literally in tears after the Gamecocks loss in the PapaJohns.com bowl last year. He vowed that he and the offense would improve. A year later there is no doubt that Garcia and the Gamecocks offense are better. However, a third straight bowl loss would certainly put a blemish on that progress. Garcia has yet to play well in a bowl game at USC.
Garcia has dealt with a lot of adversity on and off the field during his career. He’s gone from an overhyped freshman, to a frequent resident at the Richland County Detention Center, to a guy that was kicked out of school. All of that seems like a distant memory now. If Garcia can lead the Gamecocks to a tenth win Friday night he will perhaps start building another legacy.
