Shrine Bowl practice is underway in Spartanburg as the Sandlappers brave the frigid temperatures to prepare for this weekend’s battle with the North Carolina Shrine bowl squad. The team went through a pair of workouts on Monday and will be back on the practice field today.
This year Blacksburg coach Mickey Moss is coaching the South Carolina squad. Moss will install a spread offense this week and the defense will go with a 3-4 scheme. The defense has to go with the 3-4 because the Shirne Bowl rules require both teams to play the same defensive system.
One of the players Moss is excited about is Northwestern quarterback Justin Worley. The Gatorade National player of the year and Tennessee commitment is expected to play a large role in this weekend’s game.
The 74th annual Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas will kick off at 1:00 Saturday at Gibbs Stadium on the campus of Wofford College.
