Auburn wasn’t the only team to get good news on the quarterback front Wednesday. USC signal caller Stephen Garcia returned to practice yesterday, getting his first work of the week. Garcia has been nursing a sore left shoulder he injured in the win over Clemson last week.
Garcia practiced with a brace on his left shoulder and according to quarterbacks coach G.A. Mangus, he looked pretty good.
“He threw it around and took all the reps,” Mangus said after practice. “It feels good. It feels much better today.”
Garcia will likely be counted on heavily in Saturday’s SEC Championship matchup with Auburn. The Tigers stuffed Marcus Lattimore in the first meeting and forced Garcia to try to beat them through the air. Garcia almost pulled it off before a couple of fourth quarter turnovers landed him on the bench and the Gamecocks with a loss.
Garcia finished the Auburn game with 235 yards passing and three touchdowns.
