Imagine for a minute you were riding in an elevator with 16 or 17 other people and all of the sudden it stopped and didn’t move again for another two hours. Would you freak out?
On Thanksgiving Day that is exactly what happened to a group of USC football players riding in an elevator at Williams-Brice Stadium. Devonte Holloman actually posted a short video of the ordeal on Twitter over the weekend. In the video you could see some players with of look of panic on their faces and could also clearly hear some other calmer players giving the nervous ones grief.
Apparently T.J. Johnson was especially freaked out. Who could blame him?
This would be a nightmare scenario for most of us. For the USC football team it ended up being a team building moment. Tori Gurley was one of the players trapped on the elevator. He admitted it was a little nerve wracking being trapped, but said it was gratifying when they finally got off and the rest of the team was in the lobby cheering for them as they excited the elevator.
Gurley said if he’s ever trapped on an elevator again he wants the same 17 people with him. If USC wins the SEC title this weekend Steve Spurrier may make this an annual team building exercise.
