Tuesday’s in home meeting between Alabama coach Nick Saban and South Pointe DE Jadeveon Clowney did not take place because bad weather prevented Saban from flying in. That visit is now scheduled for Wednesday.
TE Jay Rome (6-6 240) of Valdosta, GA and his family met Monday night with Clemson recruiter Danny Pearman and he set an official visit date with the Tigers for January 28th, thought his father said they are going to try to go earlier, maybe January 14th, if they can work it in around the basketball schedule. “The visit went well,” said Rome’s father, former Clemson football and basketball star Stan Rome. “He wanted to make sure we were going to make an official visit and wouldn’t make a decision before the visit. We talked about the tight end position and the number of catches there and the fact he’s coached tight ends that are in the NFL.” Rome and his father was at Georgia Saturday and will make an official visit there December 10th. Jay Rome has stated Georgia and Alabama are out front. His father said he hasn’t told him that but he knows that “Clemson is still in the picture.” Tennessee is the fourth school under consideration. Rome’s season ended last Friday night. He finished the year with 46 catches for 596 yards and 6 touchdowns.
Myrtle Beach QB Everett Golson (5-11 175) will have an in home meeting with coaches from Notre Dame Wednesday. Golson took an official visit to South Bend about two weeks ago. He has been committed to North Carolina. “I’m still solid with North Carolina but anything could happen,” Golson said Monday. He added that Clemson and Tennessee were in touch a couple of weeks ago but nothing more has materialized from that. Golson will graduate from high school in December. He said he could have a final decision by the end of this week or he might delay things until the latter part of December.
TE Jerrell Adams (6-5 220) of Scotts Branch has set his official visit with USC for January 21st. That’s the first official visit Adams has arrainged. He made five unofficial visit to USC during the football season. Adams has been favoring USC. He’s also looking at Clemson, Auburn, Alabama and Florida for official visits.
