Clemson’s regular season is over and now we are awaiting word on which bowl will select the 6-6 Tigers to play in its game. Tiger fans looking for a fun bowl trip may be dissapointed at the choices.
Clemson would love to play in the Meineke Car Care Bowl in Charlotte on December 31st, but a lot of the projections have North Carolina playing in that game. N.C. State could also land in that bowl game. West Virginia will probably be the Big East team in that game, although Pittsburgh could end up there too.
Quite a few pundits, including ESPN’s Mark Schlabach have Clemson facing Air Force in the AdvoCare V100 Independence Bowl in Shreveport, Louisiana on December 27th. Georgia Tech could also land in that game.
The January 9th San Francisco Bowl is another possibility for the Tigers. That would likley feature a matchup against Nevada.
At least one site thinks Clemson has a shot at returning the Music City Bowl. Tennessee is probably going to be the SEC team in that game. It is pretty hard to imagine Clemson getting an invite back to Nashville, especially with a 6-6 record.
Most likely scenario: Shreveport sure is lovely in late December. Not really. But they do have casinos, so all isn’t lost.
**UPDATE***It now looks like Clemson is almost a lock to go to the Meineke Car Car Bowl in Charlotte. Announcement will come Saturday night or Sunday. West Virginia or Pittsburgh the likley opponent***
