Former Coastal Carolina quarterback Tyler Thigpen will be starting at quarterback tonight when the Dolphins face the Bears. It’s Thigpen’s first start in Miami since he was traded to the Fins by Kansas City last season.
Thigpen has made 11 starts in his two year NFL career. He’s still looking for his first win as a starter.
Thigpen played his high school ball at Fairfield Central High School and is a Winnsboro, S.C. native. He was one of the first players to play at Coastal Carolina after the school decided to begin its football program. Thigpen certainly hasn’t forgotten his roots.
“It makes you thankful for a lot of things. When you go through a program like that and then you get to somewhere like (Miami)”, Thigpen said. We practiced on tennis courts, driving ranges…when you walk outside and you see a nice field like that you say hey, I’ve seen worse. I’ve been through worse. There’s nothing you can throw at me that I haven’t done.”
Tonight’s game kicks off at 8:20 in Miami.
