USC got some good news from the practice field Wednesday night. Starting center TJ Johnson has recovered enough from his ankle injury suffered in the Arkansas game to be able to play this Saturday night at Florida. Gamecock offensive line coach Shawn Elliott said after practice Johnson looked good and should be back to anchor the line.
Florida’s ball-hawking secondary will be a major challenge for the Gamecocks. The Gators have 17 interceptions, three each by safety Ahmad Black and corners Janoris Jenkins and Jeremy Brown. USC receivers coach Steve Spurrier Jr. knows this will be a big test for his group.
Backup quarterback Connor Shaw also practiced last night and should be good to go Saturday after suffering bruised ribs in the Arkansas game. Right tackle Jarriel King, who is coming off a concussion, is also expected to be able to play.
