Clemson sports information director Tim Bourret is one of the best in the business for many reasons, one of which is because he likes to pass along nuggets like this:
Former Clemson players Jacoby Ford and C.J. Spiller have both returned kickoffs for touchdowns this year. Ford accomplished the feat for the Oakland Raiders against the Kansas City Chiefs this past Sunday and Spiller did it for the Buffalo Bills at the New England Patriots earlier this year.
According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Ford and Spiller are just the second rookies from the same school to return a kickoff for a touchdown in the same year since the NFL merger in 1970. The only other time it happened was in 2009 when former Abilene Christian players Bernard Scott and Johnny Knox accomplished the feat.
Bourrett is great at passing along tidbits like this, and it is always much appreciated.
