The Wofford Terriers have been picked to win the south division of the Southern Conference for the second straight season. College of Charleston is slated to finish second, with the Citadel and Furman picked 4th and 5th, respectively.
College of Charleston senior guard Andrew Goudelock was selected as the preseason SoCon player of the year by a panel of coaches. Goudelock finished second in the league in scoring a season ago, averaging 19.4 ppg.
The 2010-2011 preseason all-conference team includes 6 players from around the state. Goudelock and Jeremy Simmons were selected from Charleston, Noah Dahlman and Jamar Diggs from Wofford, Amu Saaka from Furman, and Cameron Wells represents The Citadel.
Wofford finished 2009-2010 with their best record since moving up to play with the big boys in DI, going 26-9 overall with a 15-3 mark in the conference. They had key victories over South Carolina and Georgia last season. They opened the year losing to Pittsburgh by only 3, and finished the year narrowly losing to Wisconsin in the first round of the NCAA tournament, 53-49.
