USC basketball coach Darrin Horn has been impressed with what he’s seen out of his team during the first couple of weeks of practice. Horn told reporters what his team lacks in experience, it makes up for in depth and athleticism.
Horn is entering his third year at Carolina and with the exception of Sam Muldrow, the roster is made up entirely of guys he recruited. Horn doesn’t have a superstar like Devon Downey anymore, but he believes he will have a more balanced and efficient team. Rather than rely on one guy to score 25-30 points, Horn wants to spread that scoring around a bit more.
On the injury front, Malik Cooke has returned to practice. He missed some time because of a sprained ankle. Ramon Galloway is still out with a broken foot. The cast was removed this week but there is still no timetable for his return. Horn said they will not rush him back.
The Gamecocks open the season November 12th at home against Elon. Their second game is at Michigan State on the 16th.
