Hey, Miami, South Carolina’s “Big Two” are better than your “Big Three”! They were last night anyway. Palmetto State native Ray Allen dropped 20 points and Kevin Garnett added t10 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Boston Celtics to an 88-80 win over the grotesquely overhyped Miami Heat.
Yeah, it is just one game but it was pretty sweet to see LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh lay an egg to start the season. I saw one over/under for Heat wins this season at 72. I’ll take the under. Here’s another over/under: 50. That is the number of games until the Pat Riley replaces Erik Spoelstra as the Heat’s head coach. I’ll take the under there too.
After the game Garnett astutely pointed out that, while talented, the Heat were severely lacking in the chemistry department. That will certainly improve as the season progresses, but I for one am not convinced it will improve enough to beat the established Celtics, Lakers or Magic in a seven game playoff series. Chicago could have something for Miami too.
At least LeBron has a spiffy new commercial to play up just how poorly he’s been treated since “The (bad) Decision” over the summer.
