RB Mike Blakely of Bradenton, FL Tuesday announced a commitment to Florida over Auburn. USC was among the other schools he had considered.
DB Dominique Cooper (6-1 200) of Darlington will be at USC/Tennessee game this Saturday. He also plans to go to the USC/Clemson game in November. Cooper has offers from USC, SC State, East Carolina, and North Carolina Central. All but USC are looking at him to play running back. USC wants him to play safety. “I would rather play on offense,” said Cooper. “But I like playing safety too.” He hopes to make a trip to East Carolina for a game this season but has not scheduled anything as of yet. “I want to get to as many games as I can,” he added. Cooper says he will commit sometime following the season and does not have a favorite.
TE Corey Miller Jr. (6-5 215) of Heathwood Hall says he is considering going to Gray Military Academy in Columbia next season. “I may take advantage of the extra year to get better,” said Miller. “The competition could help me improve.” He says that it’s a strong possibility but it’s not his only option. “We are putting together my highlight tape right now and, hopefully, we will get some interest from it,” he said. Miller says the two schools he continues to hear from are USC and Duke. He is still waiting on that first offer and says any school, regardless of its size, would interest him. “If a school like Furman or any other school wants to give me a chance, I’ll definitely look at them,” he said. “You can be successful anywhere if you work hard.” Miller has totaled over 800 yards in all-purpose yards this year. He plays on both sides of the ball but says he has been told tight end is likely where schools will look at him to play. He did not name a favorite.
WR AJ Sebastiano (6-1 189) of Broward, FL has offers from Florida Atlantic and Cornell and says he continues to hear from USC. “I talked to coach (Steve) Spurrier, Jr a couple of weeks ago right before they beat ‘Bama,” he said. He just recently put together his first highlight video and sent it to USC, Nebraska, Central Florida, Rutgers, Wisconsin, and Memphis. Sebastiano will take an official visit to Cornell and would like to take visits to Nebraska and Memphis as well. He has already visited USC and likes the school but has not been to a game in Columbia. “If they ask me to come back for a visit, l would definitely like to go.” Sebastiano does not have any favorites.
