Steve Spurrier just wrapped up his weekly SEC teleconfence. The 19th ranked Gamecocks will play at Vanderbilt Saturday night.
Among the newsworthy items from Spurrier:
- Spurrier said Marcus Lattimore remains doubtful for this weekend’s game. Lattimore will not test his injured ankle until tomorrow, at the earliest.
- Kenny Miles will start at running back this week. Spurrier said Miles, the team’s leading rusher last year, deserves the start.
- Spurrier said Alshon Jeffery missed practice yesterday because of an abdominal injury. It was not related to the thigh injury that slowed him down during the Kentucky game. Spurrier expects Jeffery to ready to play Saturday.
- Spurrier said the Gamecocks will have to get better, especially on third down defense, if they hope to remain in contention for their first ever SEC East title.
