USC coach Steve Spurrier said on his conference call Sunday that freshman running back Marcus Lattimore is doubtful to play this week against Vanderbilt. Lattimore sprained his ankle early in the third quarter of Saturday night’s loss against Kentucky and did not play the rest of the game.
Spurrier said Lattimore has not been ruled out, but he made it clear he is not expecting to have him available against the Commodores. Spurrier said Lattimore wouldn’t test the injured ankle until at least Thursday.
Spurrier said Kenny Miles may get the start if Lattimore doesn’t play. Senior Brian Maddox took Latimore’s reps during the Kentucky game Saturday night and could also see an increased workload this week.
USC and Vanderbilt play at 7:00 Saturday in Nashville.
