Andre Ellington is now the featured running back at Clemson. Ellington had been rotating starts splitting carried with Jamie Harper, but that will change this weekend against Maryland. Ellington will be the starter and his is going to get the lion share of the carries. Ellington is the ACC’s third leading rusher with 435 yards this season. He is averaging 6.6 yards per carry and has scored seven touchdowns. He’s averaging 87 yards rushing per game.
Harper has been in a lot of people’s crosshairs the past couple of weeks. Many have lamented the fact he is cutting into Andre Ellington’s carries each game. Harper is taking his reduced roll in stride.
Harper has carried the ball 60 times, just six fewer than Ellington. He has rushed for 238 yards and two touchdowns. He’s averaging four yards per carry this season.
