The Byrnes at Dorman football game on October 29 will be televised nationally on ESPNU. The telecast will start at 8:00 pm that evening and the kick off will be at 8:04 pm. According to Dorman athletic director Flynn Harrell, both schools are very excited to have this key region 2-AAAA match-up on national television.
“Dorman and Byrnes have played some great games in recent years and we are thrilled that the nation will have an opportunity to get a firsthand look at this tremendous Spartanburg County rivalry. We know that football fans throughout the state of South Carolina know the outstanding level of play that the Byrnes and Dorman programs have had in recent years and now we’ll have an opportunity to showcase our teams, facilities, students and fan support to the entire nation on ESPNU. If it’s possible, this telecast should bring even more excitement to an already competitive rivalry.”
Dorman and Byrnes have faced each other six times in the last three years, once during the regular season and again in the state play-offs each year. Last year, Byrnes defeated Dorman 17-10 at Byrnes on their way to the region 2-AAAA championship in the regular season. Dorman then defeated Byrnes 28-17 in the AAAA Division One State Championship Game that was played at Williams Brice Stadium in Columbia.
To accommodate the telecast, the game time for this year’s game has been moved from the originally scheduled 7:30 pm kick-off, to an 8:04 pm kick-off on October 29.
