The State reported Thursday afternoon the NCAA has sent an official letter of inquiry to USC.
The NCAA has been investigating the USC football program since mid July. First, the focus was on a possible connection between tight end Weslye Saunders and an agent. Then, the NCAA began to investigate the living arraingements of several football players at a Columbia hotel.
Saunders remains suspended from the team for a violation of team rules. Offensive tackle Jarriel King and cornerback Chris Culliver apparently remain ineligible by the NCAA while the investigation continues. Culliver’s issue is related to an agent while King is caught up in the hotel investigation.
