USC offensive lineman Quinton Richardson is transferring. The redshirt junior, who hasn’t practiced this preseason because of a shoulder injury, has decided to transfer to Hampton.
Richard announced the decision via a statement from his attorney Neal Lourie.
“I want first thank the University of South Carolina for the privilege of an education. I also thank Coach Spurrier and his entire staff for the opportunity to play football in front of the country’s greatest fans,” the statement read. “I will be taking my friendships and memories to Hamton University, where I will continue to pursue my degree and football career.”
Richardson, a former Spring Valley High standout, was a highly recruited player out of high school but injuries and legal issues kept him from being a regular starter during his Gamecock career.
