The Panthers grabbed their first win of the preseason Saturday. Even though the offense couldn’t muster a touchdown, the Cats still managed to knock of the Titans 15-7. The offense has not found the endzone in three preseason games.
Hey, at least the defense is playing well.
In defense of the Panthers offense, they are still missing All-Pro wide receiver Steve Smith (broken arm) and running back Jonathan Stewart (Achilles). The team is hoping the offense stops sputtering as much when those two are back on the field. That is expected to happen by the season opener at the New York Giants in a couple of weeks (9/12).
On interesting sidebar from Saturday’s game with the Titans; Tennessee’s lone touchdown as by former USC tight end Jared Cook.
The Panthers will close out their preseason schedule on Thursday at Pittsburgh.
