A new contract for USC baseball coach Ray Tanner is ready for university approval. Tanner is down to three years on his contract, but after winning the National Championship last season, Tanner stands to receive a substantial bump from his 500-thousand dollars per season deal with the Gamecocks.
A source tells SportsTalk that Tanner is getting a “very good, generous” contract from USC. The source was not at liberty to delve into specifics but believed the length of the new deal to be five years.
USC’s board of trustees is scheduled to meet via conference call August 24th to discuss Tanner’s contract. Contract items involving basketball coach Darrin Horn and athletic director Eric Hyman also will be discussed.
