The Citadel Football held their fourth practice of fall camp at the Maybank Triplets Practice Facility at Willson Field on Tuesday morning. The Bulldogs worked out for two-and-a-half hours in helmets and shoulder pads with warm temperatures reaching the upper 80s.
Coach Higgins after Day 4:
“We introduced a couple of new hitting drills today. We had the D-backs going against the wide receivers, one-on one stock blocking, working getting off blocks, and that was good to see. We want to keep leading up to tomorrow in pads when we will be doing some live work.
“We also today did our first team option offense against defense. We got good work on the perimeter. One of the keys is learning how to practice with uppers, with helmets, and then tomorrow with pads. There’s three different phases. There’s a tag off, there’s a thud and there’s a live period. Today was all thud. Tomorrow we’ll be introducing some live periods.
“We had a good one-on-one session with the O-line versus the D-line. It was the first time we had a chance to work on our pass rush moves live against the offense as well.”
The team will return to action on Wednesday at 8 a.m. in full pads at the Maybank Triplets Practice Facility, followed by their first two-a-day on Thursday, Aug. 12 at 8 a.m. and 3:15 p.m., Friday practice at 8 a.m. and another two-a-day on Saturday.
