The University of South Carolina football squad worked out in helmets and shorts at the Bluff Road practice fields Wednesday night. The two-hour session was the second of the fall for the Gamecocks.
Several players were held out of Wednesday’s practice while nursing minor hamstring and/or cramping issues sustained during Tuesday’s first workout. Among those held out on Wednesday included tight end Justice Cunningham, cornerback Chris Culliver, tailback Kenny Miles, linebacker Shaq Wilson and linebacker Qua Gilchrist.
The Gamecocks will return to the practice fields on Thursday night at 7:30. The squad is slated to add shoulder pads for the first time this fall. As noted following Tuesday’s practice, the schedule has been adjusted for next week. The practices from Monday, August 9 through Friday, August 13, will be held at 8:30 a.m., rather than in the evening as previously announced.
USC head coach Steve Spurrier did not meet with the media after Wednesday’s practice.
