The ACC has announced its new television contract with ESPN. It is a 12 year deal that gives the network exclusive coverage of all of the league’s football and men’s basketball games. Financial details were not disclosed but the total value of the deal is believed to be about 1.86 BILLION dollars.
That is a lot of cabbage.
ACC Commish John Swofford announces deal
The revenue from the deal will be evenly distributed to all 12 ACC schools (take note, Big 12) and the new television deal will give each school more than double what it made in the previous contract.
The bottom line here is the ACC has landed a deal very similar to the SEC’s big contract and the league managed to do it in a fragile economy and despite the fact it hasn’t had a football champion since Florida State in 1999.
Well played, Mr. Swofford. Well played.
