For those of you that didn’t get enough World Cup action over the past month, USC has issued the following release:
The Southeastern Conference has announced a slate of 16 conference games that will be televised in the 2010women’s soccer season as part of the SEC-ESPN television agreement, and the television schedule includes three games that will be played at Stone Stadium in Columbia, S.C.
The South Carolina Gamecocks will appear on national or regional television three times in the month of October with their games against opponents Mississippi State, Tennessee and LSU. Two of those games will be broadcast on ESPNU, with the other scheduled for CSS. The three home matches for South Carolina in the SEC television package are the most of all 12 SEC schools.
In the second week of the conference season, the Gamecocks will host Mississippi State on Sunday, Oct. 3 in a regionally televised game on CSS Sports. South Carolina will also conclude October with consecutive Sunday afternoon matchups on ESPNU. The
Gamecocks will host the Tennessee Lady Vols on Sunday, Oct. 17 before hosting the LSU Tigers on Sunday, Oct. 24. Revised times for all three games will be announced at a later date.
The announced television schedule marks the fourth consecutive year that the South Carolina women’s soccer team will be featured on national television. The team went 1-1-1 last season in televised games. The contest against LSU on EPSNU will mark three consecutive matches between the two teams that will be played on the channel. The two teams met in the 2009 regular season as well as the 2009 SEC Tournament final in matches that were broadcast by ESPNU.
The 2010 SEC Tournament final will also be broadcast on ESPNU. The championship match will be played Sunday, Nov. 7 at 3 p.m. The tournament will held at the Orange Beach Soccer Complex in Orange Beach, Ala.
