USC pitching coach Mark Calvi, in an exclusive interview Tuesday afternoon on SportsTalk First Edition, announced that he and head coach Ray Tanner will give the ball Tuesday night to sophomore lefthander Michael Roth in game two of the World Series Championship against UCLA.
Roth pitched a complete game three hitter in the win over Clemson Friday night. He threw 109 pitches. H’es 2-1 with a 1.27 ERA this season.
Roth will face lefthander Rob Rasmussen who was the loser June 25th in the game against TCU. He went four and a third innings allowing six hits and three runs. He threw 95 pitches. Rasmussen is 11-3 with a 2.87 ERA.
First pitch tonight will be 7:30 on ESPN.
