Clemson defensive tackle Jamie Cumbie was dismissed from the football team Thursday by head coach Dabo Swinney because he was arrested in the early morning ours of May 28th and charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.
The person Cumbie allegedly assaulted suffered several facial fractures, two black eyes, a broken tooth, bleeding on the brain and other injuries according to the report released by the Clemson Police Department. The victimwas treated at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Cumbie did confess to striking the victim.
Cumbie played in 13 of Clemson’s 14 games last season. He was suspended for the bowl game for missing curfew. He had 53 tackles last season. Cumbie is on track to graduate in August and plans to play his final season at another school.
