After the weekend of baseball conference play, USC and Clemson lead their divisions in the SEC and ACC respectively, and The Citadel sits atop the Southern Conference.
The Gamecocks had their 13 game winning streak halted Sunday at Auburn and were dealt their first SEC loss of the season. The 5-1 start is good enough to have their atpo the East Division ahead of Vanderbilt and Florida.
Clemson lost it series at Virginia but at least the Tigers weren’t swept this time in Charlottesville as they were on each of their last two trips there. The Tigers are 7-2 in conference play and hold a one game lead on Florida State in what will be a two horse race for the division titole.
The Citadel swept Appalachian State over the weekend and the Bulldogs are off to their best start in conference play in years at 9-0. They have opened up a two game lead on Georgia Southern.
Coastal Carolina lost a non-league series at home against San Diego over the weekend. The Chanticleers have played just two Big South games thus far, winning both, and they’re just a half game out of first.
