The USC basketball team broke a two game losing streak with an easy 88-58 win over Longwood Tuesday night before a sparce crowd at the Colonial Life Arena. The Gamecocks led by 23 points at halftime and didn’t let up in the second half building the lead to 36.

The Gamecocks shot 50% for the game and forced 22 turnovers which they turned into 27 point. Devan Downey scored 17 of his game high 18 points in the first half. Downey also had 6 assists and 3 steals. The Gamecocks started a three guard lineup of Downey, Brandis Raley-Ross and freshman Ramon Galloway. Galloway finished with 12 points and 3 assists.

The Gamecocks got a big lift off the bench from senior Evka Baniulis who nailed 5 three pointers to finish with a season’s high 15 points.

The Gamecocks improve to 9-5. They will open SEC play Saturday afteroon at Auburn. That tipoff will be at 1:30 and the game will be televised on the SEC Network.
