It took Lane Kiffin a while to get in on the act but he has officially put Tennessee back in the “Fulmer Cup” standings. For those of you that don’t know, the “Fulmer Cup” is the award given annually to the college football team that has the most players arrested. It was named after former Vols coach Phil Fulmer because of his team’s reputation for finding trouble off the field.
Allegedly three Vol football players (Janzen Jackson, Mike Edwards and Nu’Kesse Richardson) robbed some people at gunpoint at a Knoxville convenience store early Thursday morning (Yes, I know there is a gas pumping/stealing joke in there somewhere). All three players have been arrested and charged.
The irnonic part of the story is that Kiffin was just bragging a few days ago about how none of his players have gotten into trouble with the law. Oops. That is like talking to a pitcher during a no-hitter. He should have known better.
