The early lines are out for the Clemson-NC State and USC Florida games this weekend. The 24th ranked Tigers have control have their own destiny in the ACC Atlantic division with just two league games to play but Vegas doesn’t think this week’s game in Raleigh is going to be easy. The Tigers have opened as just a 4 ½ point favorite against the Pack. NC State is 1-4 in the ACC and 4-5 overall. This could be a tough matchup for the Tigers. They are coming off an emotional home win against Florida State and are facing an NC State team that has struggled this season but has played better the past few weeks. And Pack quarterback Russell Wilson is one of the better players in the conference. It is a game the Tigers should win but could easily loose. The good news is that even a loss doesn’t mean they won’t still win their division but I don’t think the Tigers want to leave anything to chance after so many near misses in the ACC race over the years.
Early hunch: Tigers cover the 4 ½ point spread but the game is competitive throughout.
USC has lost two straight and now it has the daunting task of facing Tim Tebow and the top ranked Florida Gators. The opening line has Florida favored by 15 points. Actually this may be lower than some expected. Just scoring 15 total points has been a struggle for the Gamecocks the past month. In fact they are only averaging 12 points per game in their last four ball games. It is almost impossible to come up with a viable reason to expect USC pull an upset Saturday. It is pretty much impossible to come up with a viable reason to expect them to score more than a couple of touchdowns. Let’s face it, Tebow and the Gators have put half a hundred on the Gamecocks the past two years and this one is shaping up like it could be the trifecta for the boys from the Swamp.
Early hunch: Unless we see something different out of Steve Spurrier this week he and the Gamecocks look like Gator bait. Florida should win by three or four touchdowns.
