Clemson did was it was expected to do against Coastal Carolina: they won with ease. Tigers easily handled the outmatched Chanticleers 49-3. There was a steady rain for most of the first half and both teams came out a little sloppy. But Clemson steadied itself and took control early in the second quarter and never looked back en route to its fifth win of the season.

Kyle Parker threw a couple of first half interceptions but finished seven of 16 for 70 yards and one touchdown. Willy Korn took most of the snaps in the second half. He took advantage of the playing time tossing a touchdown pass to and running for another. He finished 5-6 for 55 yards and rushed for another 19. It turned into the preverbal stat game for the Tigers. Three different players threw touchdown passes (Parker, Jacoby Ford, Korn), seven different players scored touchdowns and the offense rolled up 400 total yards.

The Clemson defense was dominate. Coastal Carolina was never able to get anything established and they finished with only 170 yards of total offense. The Tigers knocked Chant’s quarterback Jamie Childers out of the game with an injury in the third quarter. The only negative for the Clemson defense was an early injury to defensive end Da’Quan Bowers. He went down in the first series with a knee injury. He was in street clothes during the second half with a pair of crutches but he said after the game it was a minor PCL injury and that he will be ready to play next Saturday.

Florida State beat NC State Saturday so that sets up a big game here at Death Valley next Saturday. The Tigers are 3-2 in the ACC and the Seminoles are 2-3. If Clemson wins they will move closer to punching their ticket to Tampa Bay as the Atlantic division champion. However a loss will give the Noles the inside track to the division title.
