How would you like Clemson defensive coordinator Kevin Steele’s job this week. Coming off a short week with just a couple of days to prepare for one of the most dynamic and confusing offenses in the country? That is what he gets Thursday night with Georgia Tech. The 13th ranked Yellow Jackets have perfected the triple option under second year coach Paul Johnson. Steele says the closest offense he’s faced to Georgia Tech’s recently was Florida in last year’s SEC Championship game.

Steele and Dabo Swinney are confident they can slow down Tech if they can stay disciplined throughout the game. Swinney made the point that Georgia Tech can lull you to sleep with a couple of small gains on option handoffs and then pop a 50 or 60 yarder. Or run the ball about 15 straight times and then throw one deep over the top of the defense. There is a reason why Paul Johnson has been good everywhere he’s coached. And this option system may be old school but it does still work. Did anyone see the scare Navy put into Ohio State last weekend?
This series is almost always close and tomorrow night is shaping up to be another classic Clemson vs Georgia Tech rumble.
