The Bulldog Football team returned to action this afternoon for day fifteen of fall camp at the Maybank Triplets Practice Facility at Willson Field. The Bulldogs worked out for three hours in hot and humid conditions. The team returned to single-day practice utilizing four-minute drills where the offense needs to get two first downs and keep the ball in-bounds to win the game while the defense has two timeouts and tries to stop the clock.
“It was smash-mouth football today. It was running the ball hard and they did a good job executing that on the offensive side of the ball,” said Head Coach Kevin Higgins. “Then the defense dominated the blitz period getting to the quarterbacks and there was a poor job of protection by the offensive line. We need to work and improve in that area.”
The running back position took two hits today as freshman Van Dyke Jones suffered a broken hand and redshirt sophomore Rickey Anderson was diagnosed with a broken leg.
The Citadel will return to the practice field on Tuesday at 8 a.m. at the Maybank Triplets Practice Facility for their final practice of fall camp.
