Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney’s first preseason camp as the Tigers head coach is offically underway. Overall Swinney seemed impressed with the effort and retention his players had during the first workout. He did point out that there are still plenty of areas that can improve.

Freshman offensive tackle J.K. Jay was the only player in a yellow jersey at Tuesday’s practice. He sat out with a back injury, but did do some running on the side. He suffered the injury in mid-July while lifting weights.
Wide receiver Jacoby Ford was limited in practice after he tweaked a hamstring while fielding punts in the special teams portion of the practice.
“We held him out the rest of the practice,” said Swinney. “We don’t play this Saturday, we don’t play until September 5. We held him out as a precaution. ”
The Tigers will practice again tonight.
