It was thought DB Darrell Givens would be able to step right in at Rutgers after not pursuing USC and North Carolina. That, apparently, is not the case. The Newark Star-Ledger reports Rutgers has not yet accepted Givens who has some “obstacles and hurdles” to clear before he can join the Scarlet Knights. The report said it could be up to a week before Givens is given the clearance to go to Rutgers. Time was thought to be of the essence here. Does this give USC the opportunity to move back in? Givens has a child and a source said distance became a factor in his thought process. But since Rutgers is not a slam dunk, and USC is in need of cornerbacks, it would not be a shock if the two revisit the issue. Givens was to visit Rutgers Tuesday.
