Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney is holding his first media golf outing today at the Reserve at Lake Keowee. As always we are there to not only destroy old course records (for highest score ever) but more importantly to mingle with the coaches and get a hunch on how they are feeling going into the preseason camp.
AUDIO: Swinney pre golf outing (13:02)
I know it is a long chunk of audio but it really is worth a listen. As for a few of the highlights, Swinney still isn’t ready to tip his hand on the quarterback race. He said he has no timetable on making the call between Willy Korn and Kyle Parker. You can hear the analogy he uses around the seven minute mark of the audio above. Something about a farmer can never tell you when an apple is going to be ripe, he just knows. My question is what if both are ripe at the same time? How do you know which one to eat?
Swinney also continues to beat the “All in” drum. He went so far as to say “All In” isn’t so much a statement as it is a way of life. I don’t know exactly what the “All in” way of life is but I have to admit I enjoy Swinney’s approach to these things. Cheesy? Maybe. Entertaining? Absolutely! And hey, that is half the battle. The other half is winning and he will have his chance to prove he can do that in a little over a month. I wouldn’t bet against him.
FYI, we will be doing the show live from the clubhouse tonight and expect to have coach Swinney and a few assistants on with us during the show too. Be ready for some more Daboisms. And yes, I just made up the word Daboism.
