USC recruit Ben Axon was arrested late Wednesday night in his hometown of Bradenton, Florida. He is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell.
According the police report Axon was a passenger in a vehicle that was pulled over Wednesday night. The arresting officer smelled marijuana in the car and asked Axon if he had anything illegal on him. Axon allegedly said yes and proceeded to hand the officer 23 small bags of marijuana that he said was his.
Axon signed with the Gamecocks this past February after being recruited by several major programs. Steve Spurrier is aware of Axon’s arrest but has not made a comment.
