The Tigers have been recruiting Jones for the past couple of years, and he visited last season for the LSU game. He said his contact now has primarily been with Defensive Pass Game Coordinator Thomas Allen.
“I like how they stay in contact,” Jones said. “They’ve been in contact with me since my tenth grade year, and they’ve just been on me and trying to get me up there at Clemson. It’s a great blessing to have people like that showing that they want me, and I can play at the next level.”
Jones is set to visit Clemson again for the March 7th junior day. He also plans to schedule an official visit with the Tigers.
Jones has been involved with South Carolina going back to his eighth-grade year, and Gamecock head coach Shane Beamer and secondary coach Torrian Gray have remained consistent in their recruiting of him.
“I like how they stay on top of me too, and it’s not that far,” Jones said. “It’s SEC ball. The relationship has been heavy since my eighth-grade summer. Ever since eighth grade, I’ve been going up there almost every spring for practice and junior days. I’ve been going up there a lot. The relationship is strong with Coach Beamer and Coach Gray.”
Jones was in for a game last season, and he said he will be in for a spring practice and will also schedule an official visit with the Gamecocks.
The only official visit date set at this point is Tennessee on June 12th. Jones said he also plans to take official visits with LSU, Texas A&M, Miami and Georgia.
Last season at West Charlotte, Jones had 50 tackles and four interceptions. He has transferred to Hough High in Cornelius for his senior season.
