Two of the new offensive coaches on the South Carolina staff, coordinator Kendal Briles and line coach Randy Clements, made it over to Irmo High School on Tuesday for their first in-person meeting with Yellow Jackets OT Nate Carson.
“I like them a lot. They are really straightforward,” Carson said. “We didn’t even talk about football, honestly. We were just getting to know each other, and let them get to know my family. I’m still trying to get to understanding what Coach Clements is doing. I’m going down Saturday, so that will probably be more in-depth.”
Carson will see Briles and Clements, and the rest of the Gamecock staff, on Saturday when he visits for a junior day.
Virginia was also in on Tuesday to see Carson, and the Cavaliers made him an offer. Last week, Carson had visits from Clemson, North Carolina, and Tennessee. He plans to visit Clemson for a junior day on March 7th.
Carson has also scheduled three of his official visits. He will go to Clemson on May 31st, to Tennessee on June 5th, and to USC on June 12th. The other schools on his short list are Alabama, Oregon, Ohio State and Nebraska.
