COLONIAL LIFE ARENA: South Carolina finally put it all together Saturday steamrolling Arkansas 72-53 in Columbia. The Gamecocks (12-17, 2-14 SEC) controlled the game from the jump, building a 32-14 halftime lead and never letting the Razorbacks sniff a comeback.
Sophomore phenom Collin Murray-Boyles put on a show, torching Arkansas for a career-high 35 points while dragging in seven rebounds.
It wasn’t just a one-man wrecking crew, though. Nick Pringle was a force in the paint, chipping in 18 points and nine boards, while Jacobi Wright and Jordan Butler made timely plays to keep the Hogs at bay. Butler’s dagger three late in the second half erased any hope of an Arkansas miracle.
Arkansas (17-12, 6-10 SEC) never found a rhythm, clanking their way to a miserable 3-of-22 night from beyond the arc. Karter Knox led the Razorbacks with 11 points, but the Gamecocks dominated inside, outscoring Arkansas 38-18 in the paint and winning the battle on the glass.
“The defense set the tone for us,” head coach Lamont Paris said. “We weren’t just making them miss—we were dictating what they could do.”
The win marks South Carolina’s most dominant SEC performance of the season and injects some much-needed confidence into the squad. The Gamecocks now turn their attention to Tuesday night’s home matchup against Georgia, looking to build on the momentum. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. at Colonial Life Arena.
