Clemson had an opening in its 2025 recruiting class for another defensive tackle following the decommitment of Isaiah Campell, and the Tigers filled that void with a commitment Wednesday from Makhi Williams-Lee (6-2 275) of Atlanta. Williams-Lee made an unofficial visit to Clemson for the Stanford game Saturday night.
Lee was committed to NC State until last week. Not long after he decommitted from the Wolfpack, Clemson defensive line coach Nick Eason made him an official offer and they set up the visit for Saturday.
Eason has seen a lot of Williams-Lee in action. He attended two camp sessions in 2023 and another one this past summer. Williams-Lee is confident he will be an asset for the Tigers on their defensive line.
“I’m able to do it all,” Williams-Lee said. “I feel like I’m a versatile player to where if I have to play the run, I can play the run. I can pass rush, too. In high school, I’m everywhere, wherever I feel like is good for me in a situation. My primary position is defensive tackle. I play the three-tech to the one-tech depending on what the offensive formation is.”
Williams-Lee also had offers from Kansas State, Oklahoma, Mississippi State, Coastal Carolina, East Carolina and others. He gives the Tigers 14 commitments in their class, and they also are in pursuit of another defensive tackle in Christian Ingram.
