#STRecruiting Notebook 7-27

WR Ruben Jackson (5-9 164) of Belle Glades, FL visited South Carolina Friday and worked out at the camp for WR coach Mike Furrey. He said it all went well, and he’ll be enrolling for the fall semester at USC and joining the program as a walk-on.  “Me and Coach Furrey had a great talk, he likes my game style. We also had a good talk about my journey. I know coach Furrey will develop me to the man I want to be on and off the field.”  Jackson had offers from Syracuse, Oregon State, Troy, Rutgers, FAU and Vanderbilt out of high school and actually drew some interest from Clemson and visited. He went to Mississippi State as a PWO for two seasons then left and spent last season at Georgia Military JC before transferring to Miami Dade JC to get his grades in place to be able to go back to a major program.

2026 QB Jayvon Gilmore of Gaffney camped with USC Friday and left there feeling an offer is in the “near future.” He and some teammates then left for Arkansas for a weekend visit with the Razorbacks.

2026 SAF J’Zavien Currence of South Pointe was at USC Friday night for their cookout and will visit Florida on Saturday.

2026 SAF Smoke Matthews has set a visit to Clemson for July 29th. He was at USC Friday.  He will be at  Florida State Saturday and Sunday and North Carolina on the 30th. He also just picked up an offer from Missouri.

  • 2026 DB Cameron Hairston-Taylor (6-0 165) of Roanoke, VA.
  • 2027 QB Mason Holtzclaw, a native of Piedmont who attends Christ School in Arden, NC.
  • 2027 QB Trae Taylor (6-2 175) of Mundelein, IL.
  • 2027 WR Aden Starling (6-1 170) of Alvin, TX.
  • 2028 DT Cory Cunningham (6-4 265) of Charlotte.

WR Jackson Repp of Christ Church ran at the USC camp Friday and clocked a forty in the 4.25-4.3 range according to a post on his X page.

2026 WR Jude Hall of Christ Church was offered by Duke.
