WLLIAMS-BRICE STADIUM: South Carolina put the wraps on spring football practice Saturday night with the Garnet scoring a 17-0 win over the Black in front of an announced crowd of 32,500 at Williams-Brice Stadium. Projected starting quarterback LaNorris Sellers, playing with the Garnet squad, completed 9-11 passes for 70 yards and rushed for 38 yards and a touchdown.
Peyton Argent booted a 22 yard field goal and Dante Reno dropped off a 15 yard screen pass to Maurice Brown who ran it in for a touchdown to account for the rest of the scoring.
Djay Braswell rushed for 26 yards on five attempts for the Garnet. Tyshawn Russell led the Garnet receivers with two catches for 31 yards. Oscar Adaway caught two out of the backfield, and Gage Larvadian also had two catches.
Backup quarterback Robby Ashford, playing for the Black team, did not attempt a pass and with sacks had a minus 17 rushing yards. Davis Beville completed 8-10 passes for 46 yards with one interception for the Black.
Larry Scott led the ground game for the Black with 29 yards on seven carries. Ahmari Huggins-Bruce had two catches for 20 yards, and Mazeo Bennett caught two for 11 yards.
The Garnet finished with 186 total yards. The Black managed just 61 yards on 36 plays.
