Perfection. In a word, that sums up the season for the South Carolina women’s basketball team. 38-0 and a third national championship. Just the 10th perfect season in D1 women’s basketball history. The Gamecocks capped their magical run with a win over Iowa Sunday in Cleveland in the National Championship Game. With that performance, they left no doubt who was the best team in the country this season.
Monday afternoon, the Gamecocks were celebrated by a crowd estimated at 6000 inside Colonial Life Arena. The radio voice of the USC women, Brad Muller, served as the MC for the short presentation which included athletics director Ray Tanner and head coach Dawn Staley.
